Paul Smith-Keitley

EdTech Lead, Magpie Education

Paul Smith-Keitley has been involved in educational technology planning and curriculum development for over 30 years. Formerly General Manager of the European Multimedia Centre in London, he spent a period of time as an EU consultant based at Trinity College Dublin and Limerick University working to create a pair of hubs for the fledgling Irish multimedia industry. Paul is also an Affiliate member of the Chartered College of Teaching

Spent 8 years in the US he was Director of Technology and Curriculum for the largest school district in New York State, during which time he was one of 10 directors in the US invited to present his technology program to a steering group at MIT as part of National Science Foundation next generation technology initiative. Also while in the US he served as a Federal Grant Reader for two rounds of the federal Educational Technology Grant Program.

Within the last 5 years he has completed training for Lego Robotics, Vex Robotics and Knex Robotics. While working with the Tablet Academy he developed and delivered educational festivals for STEM, Robotics, Minecraft and Computer Science. He has also developed curriculum packages for SAMLabs and Pi-Top that have been aligned for UK, US, Australian and NGIS curriculums.

He recently presented on the Future of Education at University Centre Shrewsbury’s Darwin Festival and at Shropshire Council’s Tech Severn Event on technology for rural communities. For the past 2 years he has held the title of Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert and is working with University Centre Shrewsbury to develop a technology program for their Health Care Post Grad program.
