He first made a proposal to share information by using the technology of hypertext in 1989 and implemented the first successful communication between a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) client and server via the internet in mid-November the same year.

He also made the world's first website in 1991 which was info.cern.ch and centred on information about the WWW project.
